IMPROVE RESULTS
MyMathLab delivers proven results in helping students succeed and provides engaging experiences that personalize learning.
The Tobey/Slater/Blair/Crawford course includes all of MyMathLab’s robust features, plus these additional highlights:
- Topic-based modules have a minimum of topical overlap, allowing students to move more quickly through all of the content for the developmental mathematics sequence. The modules are organized to help faculty and students find their appropriate starting point.
- Two MyMathLab course options are available:
- Standard MyMathLab courses allow instructors to build their course their way, offering maximum flexibility and control over all aspects of assignment creation.
- Ready-to-Go courses provide students with all the same great MyMathLab features, but make it easier for instructors to get started.
- Both course options include:
- A pre-made pre-test and post-test for every chapter
- Topic-level homework
- “How Am I Doing? mid-module review” for every module
- Math Coach Homework with stepped-out concept check questions for every module
- Module review quiz linked to personalized homework.
- Pre-made Use Math to Save Money media assignments are also available.
- Use Math to Save Money Animations for each module are assignable and expand upon a favorite feature from the text series, allowing students to put the math they just learned into context. These newly created animations are set to music, and depict real-life scenarios and real-life people using math to cut costs and spend less. To ensure that students watch and understand the animations, each ones ends with a question and directs students to a Use Math to Save Money homework assignment, which is pre-built for instructor convenience.
- All videos from the Lecture Series on DVD with Math Coach and Test Prep Videos are available in MyMathLab. Test Prep and Math Coach Videos are also available on YouTube.
- Accessibility enhancements continue Pearson’s commitment to make products accessible to as many students as possible. This latest course release is compatible with the JAWS screen reader enabling print-disabled students to access and interact with numerous problems as noted by an icon within the assignment manager. The course also works with the ZoomText enlarger, and includes an HTML eBook that is compatible with JAWS and other Windows screen readers allowing all students to access the same text, at the same place, and at the same price. Additionally all videos include closed captioning.
GUIDE STUDENTS
To facilitate independent student learning, the Modules are structured with extensive examples that explain procedures step by step, and are immediately followed with Student Practice Problems to provide the opportunity to show mastery of that type of example.
- The “How Am I Doing?” mid-module review exercises let students pause at critical junctures to make sure they are “getting it.”
- End-of-Topic Exercises progress from basic to challenging, and each exercise set includes Verbal and Writing Skills, plus Mixed Practice exercises.
- A Quick Quiz at the end of each exercise set contains three problems that cover the essential content of that topic. This simple assessment tool measures whether students are ready for new material, and when they need further review.
- A Concept Check question at the end of each Quick Quiz asks students to explain how and why a method works in their own words, forcing students to analyze problems and reflect on the mathematical concepts.
- Each Module provides several opportunities for review and reinforcement of key concepts:
- Module Organizers summarize the module topics, procedures, and corresponding examples, and a “You Try It” problem has been added to provide another opportunity for practice and review to ensure students do not have gaps in learning the material in the module.
- Assessment Check boxes on the “How Am I Doing?” Module Test encourages students to check their work. If students need extra help on any test problems, they can watch the Test Prep Videos, where all test solutions are worked out on video.
- The Math Coach problems follow every module test and provide helpful hints and coaching on how to avoid certain pitfalls and common errors that students often make. Students can also watch the authors solve these key problem types on the new Math Coach Videos.
PROVIDE AN ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION WITH PRINT SUPPORT
This All-in-One Developmental Mathematics has everything for Prealgebra, Beginning Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra in one easy-to-use solution. In addition to a full eText in MyMathLab, two printed options are available to provide additional support.
- Worksheets with the Math Coach complete the learning package. The worksheets help students understand key concepts in the course as they work through important examples for each module. These worksheets are available in printed format or in MyMathLab.
- A complete eText, organized by modules and topics, is included in the MyMathLab course. Instructors who want to provide a printed book for their students can order this through Pearson Learning Solutions.
