This book is a comprehensive study of Russian foreign policy and the commitment to re-establishing Russia as a great power.

In responding to the question as to whether Russia has re-emerged as a great power, the authors trace the major lines of foreign and security policy under Vladimir Putin. The authors argue that Putin and his advisors are committed to re-establishing Russia as a great power and that the existence of nuclear weapons and the revival of the Russian economy have provided the foundations for an expanded Russian role in global affairs.

ROGER E. KANET is Professor of International Studies at the University of Miami, USA. Prior to that he was a member of the faculty of the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has edited more than twenty scholarly books on the Soviet Union/Russia and authored 200+ on Soviet/Russian and East/Central European foreign and domestic politics.
