Jeffrey S. Beasley is with the Department of Engineering Technology and Surveying Engineering at New Mexico State University. He has been teaching with the department since 1988 and is the co-author of Modern Electronic Communication and Electronic Devices and Circuits, and the author of Networking.

Piyasat Nilkaew is a network engineer with 15 years of experience in network management and consulting, and has extensive expertise in deploying and integrating multiprotocol and multivendor data, voice, and video network solutions on limited budgets.

The new edition splits the previous book (Networking, Second Edition) into two volumes. This second volume covers the advanced material at about the level of the CCNA certification. The text has been revised and reorganized to focus on the introductory networking student. A new chapter on network infrastructure design has been added. The section on network management has been expanded and also includes a chapter on analyzing network data traffic. The chapter on network security has been expanded to cover router and switch security, intrusion detection and prevention, VPNs, and wireless security. A new chapter has been added on IPv6 and the BGP coverage has been expanded.
