To do this project Jordan received a grant from the Pennsylvania Council in the Arts. “I’m thankful for this project and grant so that some of the working-class stories of the people I met and interviewed can get out through music. For this album, I also thank the musicians that played on it, especially, Jacob Betzner, and my brother, Christian Umbach, as well as a great accordian player named Henry Doktorski. His instrument really gave many of the songs a unique feel and added an ethnic feel.” Mercy: Songs of Western Pennsylvania
