Medical Records for the South Wales Coalfield c. 1890-1948

The vast archives of the South Wales Coalfield Collection are a unique asset for researchers and an especially useful tool for medical historians. Until now the medical records contained within the collection have been prohibitively difficult to locate, but Anne Borsay and Sara Brady here present a guide to the collection that highlights all items of medical significance. In addition to helping researchers find their way through the collection, Borsay and Brady establish the historical context for the records by exploring the ways that new legislation, scientific developments, changes in health care management, and changing attitudes to the environment are reflected in the records.
