I was amazed, in fact, at how cleverly and subtly the international connections were incorporated into the larger narrative, including some, I?m rather chagrined to admit, I have never thought to include myself. That said, the global theme never seemed forced, and none of the international material is included just for the sake of inclusion. The chapters are interesting and incorporate real people?This means that students are not reading the same stories they?ve read for 13 or so years, written by different people.
