This community-created Somali alphabet book grew out of the realization that Somali language board books simply were not available in the city’s schools or libraries. So, Somali families, supported by the library and partners, worked together in a dynamic, innovative, and fun partnership to produce this much-needed book. Full color. Learn to count in Somali with this board book for 2-5 year olds, created by Seattle’s Somali community for use by ALL families. What do you do when the demand for books in your language outstrips the supply? Write and publish your own! This innovative collaboration involved five families who live in the NewHolly neighborhood, The Seattle Public Library, Seattle Public Schools, Seattle Housing Authority, and the Somali Family Safety Task Force.
